If you’re planning a trip to Gili Trawangan, timing matters more than most people realize. The island feels different depending on the season — from calm turquoise mornings to dramatic tropical sunsets.
Often considered the best time to visit Gili Trawangan, these months bring sunny skies, lower humidity, and excellent diving visibility. The sea is generally calmer, making it ideal for snorkeling, paddleboarding, and boat trips.
This is also peak season, so boutique stays like Lumi tend to book earlier — especially from July through September.
A quieter alternative with warm temperatures and fewer crowds. Occasional rain showers pass quickly, and the island feels more relaxed.
Expect tropical rain, higher humidity, and lush green surroundings. While there may be short storms, there are still plenty of sunny windows throughout the day. It’s also a more peaceful time to visit.
No matter the season, Gili Trawangan remains warm year-round. The real difference lies in crowd levels, diving conditions, and atmosphere.
For the best combination of strong weather and slightly fewer crowds, late May and October are often sweet spots. June and September offer beautiful conditions but are increasingly popular with experienced travelers.
